I had the pleasure of 3 days late in 2017 working with some very willing students at Swansea University’s two campuses photographing a range of imagery for their new prospectus and upcoming campaigns. The weather was a bit chilly and changeable but Swansea Bay as a location never disappoints.
I had a number of enjoyable days in the studio in December working with food stylist Nerys Howel on a number of recipes promoting Welsh produce. There’s a lot of incredible food being produced in Wales and it’s a joy to showcase some of it.
It was a pleasure photographing the great airy spaces in this new higher education college recently completed by Austin Smith Lord which seemed to be equally enjoyed by the students.
It was good to be working again late last year with the lovely and amazing interior designer Yvonne Jones from Chameleon Interiors on a couple of her recent projects. As usual stunning interiors and a delight to photograph.
This was an enjoyable commission once again for Purcell UK to document the latest stage of works in the refurbishment of Clifton Cathedral, a fascinating piece of architecture produced in the 1970’s.
Bistrot Pierre have continued to expand their business over the summer with the opening of stunning new restaurants in the Mumbles area of Swansea, Kidderminster and Middlesborough. It’s been enjoyable working with their marketing team at each of the new bistrot’s (and also sampling some more of their menu!).
I had the pleasure of photographing the completed refurbishment of this well loved museum on the outskirts of Cardiff over the summer for Purcell UK Architects. The redevelopment of this Grade II listed museum building designed by Percy Thomas Partnership in 1975 is the latest stage of an extensive programme to transform the National Museum of Wales. The £30 million Making History project was awarded £11.5 million by the Heritage Lottery fund in 2012, Wales biggest ever HLF grant.
I spent an enjoyable day photographing these amazing cocktails in the studio over the summer for a bar menu. We did stay sober - honest!
In addition to their guest chef evening, I’ve also been at The Grove during the spring season to cover the extensive gardens in their spring glory and also the new food menu developed by executive chef Allister Barsby. It’s no wonder The Grove was voted Welsh Hotel of the Year by the Good Hotel Guide for 2016.
I’ve photographed a few more of Bistrot Pierre’s latest restaurants as they continue to expand their successful business into new areas throughout the UK and also been involved in photographing their new spring/summer menu. It’s also been pleasure to sample some of their delicious menu at the shoots!!
After over 20 years in the business, it’s not often that I’m totally taken aback by a project. I was contacted late summer by Rype Office regarding an upcoming office fit out they had coming up in Cardiff. What was different here is that Rype Office take used furniture and refurbish and remanufacture it to enable an attractive, sustainable office fit out. The finished scheme was way above my expectations and a reminder as to what can be done with a bit of imagination and by exploring sustainable alternatives.
